the art of living peace
Currently we are implementing a peace curriculum in our class 6-7. It is initiated by Anne Beer Germany and hosted by her and the teachers of Kufunda school. Together they are exploring “The Art of Living Peace”, following the question: what do we actually need to maintain and spread peace – as individuals as well as in a group?
The program is also running in German schools and the goal is to bring children from different cultural backgrounds together, to share their ideas of how they want this world to unfold.
Anne has worked about 20 years in the field of international conflict resolution and has merged her knowledge as well as mindfulness practices and peace practices from around the word into a curriculum that supports the practice of peace.
Since January 2024 Anne has been working with children (grade 6 and 7) and teachers at Kufunda Village School in Zimbabwe – together they explore: the art of living peace.
The first three months she has been in Kufunda in person and since then, being back in Hamburg, she has been working with the school online. To make this happen they developed a very practical yet beautiful way of staying connected and deepening the topic: Anne is recording videos with tasks or questions for the children, and they respond.
Last week they were working on peace messages and their impact. One task was: If you could tell the world something about peace, something that would uplift those who struggle or support those who need it, what would it be? The invitation was to speak from their own experience, talk about things that are precious to them. The answers were amazing – what would be yours?
