Our programmes are designed to nurture the potential of people and their communities so that innovative solutions can emerge and be made manifest.
Core Community Programme
Once a year we run a foundation programme for for each of the five communities we work with. It is 2 week programme aimed at supporting a community in finding new (or old) ways of moving forward together. The participants are anyone from the community committed to contributing to the development of the community of any age group or background.
Practical Workshops
Kufunda regularly offers different practical workshops which respond to the needs of our partner communities, and which offer further development of skills in different practice areas.
Each year we offer
A training workshop for community preschool teachers: In 2008 friends and partners from Lapeng Early Childhood Centre in Johannesburg, came of offer specifically preschool interior design and art therapy. A food and nutrition workshop: Developing and sharing our skills and knowledge about growing and cooking nutritious food - with a focus on traditional grains and foods
Other practical workshops
Building: In 2006 community members came for a month long rammed earth workshop at Kufunda which resulted in the completion of our Kufunda preschool. Subsequently follow up workshops have been held in the communities themselves to further this technique and enable low cost building in the communities. Currently a rammed earth preschool building is ready for roofing in Rusape. Herb growing and processing: The Kufunda herbal team is much in demand for workshops on herb growing and processing, both amongst our communities and in the wider network. In a 5 day workshop, the team covers growing and caring for herbs, propagation methods, culinary and meidicinal uses, and variety of ways to process herbs into medicinal remedies
Programmes to other target groups
Workshops that we run regularly for other NGOs and organisations, include:
The Art of Hosting and The flow game.
Learning Journeys to Kufunda and surrounds for friends and groups from abroad.
